1. Identification of a new type of histone modification, which is induced by lactic acid----lysine lactylation.
2. Identification of a new type of histone modification, which is induced by ketone body----lysine b-hydroxybutyrylation.
These novel histone modifications of metabolite origin function to integrate cellular metabolic states and regulate gene transcription to help cells adapt to stimuli and changes in internal and external environmental signals.
